The Town of Beloit Police department is pleased to announce the upcoming partnership with www.citizenobserver.com, an internet based crime prevention and community awareness group. By visiting the Town of Beloit Police Department page on the Citizen Observer website, citizens and businesses will be able to access information about home safety, scams, crime trends, wanted persons, missing persons, unsolved crimes, and other important information to make our community a safer place. The website will also offer a "Business Alert", which allows the Police to post bulletins notifying local businesses of goings on that could affect them. The website allows citizens to communicate with the police regarding their concerns, and any tips or information about crimes.

We feel that this can be a powerful crime prevention tool, and an excellent way of getting the community involved in making this a safer town for us all to live, work, and play in. Any questions, comments, or concerns can be addressed to Sgt. Richard Felger at the Police Department, 364-2984.

Sgt. Dave Dransfield is the first Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician for the Town of Beloit Police Department.Having a child passenger safety technician is one of the best ways to educate adults about the proper ways in which to safely transport their children. Through the technician, we can teach the proper installation of child safety seats, the hazards of improper installation, and the difficulties with belt systems and seating configurations. In addition, this is an excellent way in which to detect unsafe and recalled child safety seats. The goal is to have every parent leave with the feeling their child is safer than when they arrived.

Not only is Sgt. Dransfield available to check child safety seats at the Police Department, he also actively participates in area CPS clinics/checkups, and can provide education and training programs to area groups and organizations. For more information please call (608) 364-2984.

TOWN OF BELOIT POLICE DEPT. POEM
I AM THE OFFICER

I have been where you fear to be,
I have seen what you fear to see,
I have done what you fear to do,
All these things I have done for you.

I am the person you lean upon,
The one you cast your scorn upon,
The one you bring your troubles to,
All these people I've been for you.

The one you ask to stand apart,
The one you feel should have no heart,
The one you call "The Officer in Blue,"
But I'm a person, just like you.

And through the years I've come to see,
That I am not always what you ask of me,
So take this badge, take this gun,
Will you take it.....will anyone?

And when you watch a person die,
And hear a battered baby cry,
Then do you think that you can be,
All these things you ask of me?
